A Book You Learned From (week 24)

52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

“Cry of the Kalahari” by Mark and Delia Owens is by far my favorite book ever.  I did a book report on it in grade school, and it made a profound impression on me.  As newlyweds, the Owens’s left America with little to nothing, to pursue their dream of studying African wildlife on the Kalahari.  How incredibly brave of them!  Their leap of faith turned into a lifelong quest for animal and human rights, and many, many interesting side trips along that route.  I admire them.

Please check out their amazing, and TRUE, tales of adventure.

Love and Peace,

Favorite Physical Trait (week 23)

52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

Eyes are the windows to the soul, right?  I suppose it’s not very surprising to say that eyes are my favorite physical trait of someone, because they usually top most people’s list of favorite traits.

Something You Use Everyday (week 22)

52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

Holy cow, I don’t know how I got along without this little gadget…my Sonicare toothbrush.  My boyfriend makes fun of my “first world” toothbrush, but I tell you, I love it.  My teeth feel so clean.

I also bought a Clarisonic facial cleaner, which is based on the same technology.  I love it too!  They are my indulgences.

Love and Peace,

Things You Like About Summer (week 21)

52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

Summers in the desert of Las Vegas always reach the triple digits for several solid weeks at time.  There is absolutely nothing to like about that, and I don’t.  I hate the temperature in the summer, with a passion.

So, things I like about summer?  Hmmm…  ice cubes for drinks, swimming pools, cold movie theatres, air conditioning, and vacations to cooler climates.

Oh, and I like the smell of Hawaiian Tropic!

Love and Peace,

A Friend 2 (week 20)

52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

Another close friend I have is pictured here.  We’ve been friends for nearly fifteen years or more.  Her friendship brings me happiness, humor and understanding.  She has always remained supportive and non-judgmental of whatever calamity I happened to be going through at the time, and I’m in debt to her.

I’m a lucky friend to have her.

Love and Peace,

Health (week 19)

52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

Health, unfortunately, falls into that category of “maybe tomorrow”, and I don’t have a good reason why.  I could argue that I need to spend time in front of the computer perfecting my stories, and honing my craft. But, in the end, I’m honestly not sitting for 8 hours straight a day.

I know that when I exercise and eat well, I feel better.  And I strive to.

Love and Peace,

The Weather (week 18)

52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

Bring on the rain, thunderstorms and rainbows!  Being a desert dweller my whole life, I’ve come to appreciate the drama of a sudden desert storm, and the power behind it.  Our storms are not gentle, they are usually announced by a deafening clap of thunder and pounding rain, albeit short lived.

Love and Peace,

Something You Take for Granted (week 17)

52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

Time.

I always think I’ll have enough.  But, I should know by now that I don’t.  I’ve loved and lost several very important people in my life way too soon, and it should have taught me the very important lesson of: ”you never know how much time you have left.”

Yet, I still procrastinate on the important things.  Do you?

Why?

Love and Peace,

Simple Things in Life (week 16)

52 Weeks of Gratitude Challenge

Food. Shelter.

Aren’t those the bare necessities?  My son had an assignment at school to write things that he needed as opposed to things he wanted.  One of the things he listed was ice cream, and he got marked off for it.

But, it made me think…isn’t ice cream a necessity?  Isn’t a little play and fun, a simple necessity of life?  I think so!

Head to an ice cream shop and treat yourself today.

Why not?

Love and Peace,

Forgive Me?

Time Flies!

I intend to finish my 52 weeks of Gratitude, and I will.  I got lost for awhile, but now I'm back.

Forgive me, but I will post every other day until I get caught up.

Peace and Love,

Kay
